On October 29th, the Greater Washington DC Black Chamber of Commerce (GWBCC), a close partner and ally of the Second Chance Hiring Alliance (SCHA), hosted an open house and business summit at the Anacostia Arts Center, attracting entrepreneurs, community organizations, and business leaders from across D.C. The event showcased the Chamber’s commitment to collaboration and economic growth within the Black business community, offering valuable resources and networking opportunities.

SCHA’s Gene Downing attended the event, sharing our mission to create employment opportunities for those who are justice impacted. The event attracted a steady flow of attendees, from business owners and community-based organizations (CBOs) to workforce development professionals. We connected with a diverse group of individuals, exchanging ideas and exploring partnerships that align with our mission.

We left inspired by the enthusiasm for our work and the collective energy to make a positive community impact. Events like this one remind us of the vital role that local organizations play in building strong, inclusive economies. We look forward to more opportunities to partner with organizations within the Greater Washington DC Black Chamber of Commerce, and we extend our thanks to the Anacostia Arts Center for hosting this gathering!
