On February 25, the Greater Washington DC Black Chamber of Commerce (GWBCC), a valued partner of the Second Chance Hiring Alliance (SCHA), hosted an Open House Business Summit at the Thurgood Marshall Center! This session was sponsored by Citizens Bank.

The event featured a luncheon, resource expo, various panel discussions, breakout sessions, technical assistance, and networking opportunities.

SCHA’s Gene Downing and Aayushma Bastola attended the event along with our intern, Jada Carter. Downing and Bastola conversed with attendees about our mission to create employment opportunities for justice-impacted individuals.

Business owners, community-based organizations (CBOs), and workforce development professionals attended, and our team spoke with companies such as the Urban Real Estate Fund, LLC, The Washington Informer, and Justis Connection to explore lasting connections.

Events like this reaffirm the vital role of local organizations and community fellowship in creating active change and steps toward inclusive economies. We look forward to future collaborations with the Greater Washington DC Black Chamber of Commerce and extend our gratitude to the Thurgood Marshall Center for hosting this impactful gathering!
